Ellipsis Architecture is thrilled to welcome the multi-talented David Ellis to our team.
As an instructor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) since 2012, David has taught graduate and undergraduate studio design courses in such subject areas as Thesis, housing, work space design, and urban design, as well as technical classes in lighting. Additionally, David has taught undergraduate studios at the Boston Architectural College, adult continuing studies at SAIC, and gifted children at Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy. David has been a guest critic at IIT, Judson College, Harvard Career Discovery, Wentworth Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois.
David holds advanced degrees in Architecture (MArch) and Urban Planning (MUP), both from Harvard University, and a BA from Northwestern University.
Before joining Ellipsis, David worked as a designer at Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Harvard Planning, and the Rothman Partners, a Boston firm specializing in healthcare. Prior to that, David was the director of marketing in such offices as Leers Weinzapfel and Graham Gund.
A native of the Chicago area, David enjoys photography, cooking and outdoor sports. Formerly a competitive rower, David is an avid cyclist and runner and enjoys hiking, soccer and golf. David has a love for all animals, especially dogs, and is trying to become a vegetarian.
