At Ellipsis, our design team loves the opportunity to work with residential clients because we feel that our work can have an incredibly significant impact on people's daily lives. We work with our residential clients to uncover interesting questions and relationships in their homes and we strive to redefine them into thoughtful solutions. In our spaces, families interact more thoughtfully and the nuances of daily life are streamlined to be as efficient as possible, leaving more time for what matters - talking with your wife/husband, playing with your kids, relaxing with a drink and shaking off the stresses of your day.

We also love our residential clients because they challenge us to continually reexamine our ideas about how people live. Everyone has a collection of beautiful quirks, each one demanding a sensitive design response. We love taking on the challenge and are thrilled when it comes to life. The friendships we build with our clients are meaningful and lasting and we couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to work with them.

We recently had the privilege of working with a delightfully forward-thinking couple who own a developer-built condo in the River North neighborhood of Chicago. Having purchased their home in tandem with the start of building their young family, their space initially suited them and their needs nicely. As their two daughters grew and their respective professional lives evolved, the space became increasingly less effective, however, in supporting their home lives. Initially, their needs were simple; they needed a second bedroom for their daughter and a new office space that offered privacy for the confidential work-related conversations they needed to have from home. This became the basis on which additional exciting mandates for the project emerged, the most overarching of these being the need for streamlined efficiency and minimalist styling. The project became a thrilling journey towards an exciting conclusion in which the clients became key members of the design team, offering their insights, feedback and design ideas to the development of the project. In the end, the project became a reflection of themselves and their own focused efforts during the design and construction process.

As with all project types, we crave feedback and strive to constantly evolve in response to it. It's a genuine pleasure to circle back with our clients once they've lived in their new spaces for a time to ask them for their thoughts on their new homes, how the spaces work in support of their lives and how happy they have been with the relationship they've built with Ellipsis.
